Some little known facts. [06 Mar 2009|09:40pm]
* If you stare an Australian in the eye it will attack. That is the real reason people always wear sunglasses in Australia.

* The sound of crumpling up newspaper will cause a stampede of slaters. This is because they confuse it with the sound of rustling leaf litter.

* Maternal instinct is drug based. Babies secrete an opiate through their forehead, which is why mothers always kiss babies' foreheads and nurture them.

* There is no such thing as night time. The light sensing part of the human eye goes to sleep after about a 12 hour period, giving the illusion of darkness.

* The female orgasm is a myth. I would know this.

Things stuff and whatsits [25 Feb 2009|05:42pm]
30th was a blast!!!

Not millions of fish to be had, but who cares. There was much heavy drinking, barbecuing of Bambi, paddling of "Das Booty" (my widdle wubber boat) and singing and guitar playing until all hours. Only two casualties - and both of them were drinking red wine rather than my potent potions.

Started my new job as sports store bitch on Monday. Hell of a lot slower than Paper Puss, but I'll get used to it I guess.

Made the mistake of hand feeding "Denny Crane", my big Duvacels Gecko. He now associates fingers with food. Bugger!!!

Life at teh moment [01 Feb 2009|09:19pm]
* Job interview at local sports store tomorrow. After eleventy eight trillion years in the stationery trade, it's time for a change (that's the official reason anyway).

* Copious amounts of top shelf home made liquor are made up for my 30th. I'm actually excited about it finally!!! Camping / fishing / cocktail party / bbq.....and my old man and bro in law went out and got venison for it even!!! Anyway, we have vodka, whiskey, triple sec, blue curacao, dark rum, white rum, yaegar, teuila, gin, blueberry vodka, creme de menthe, creme de cacao, choc mint liquer, brandy.....and I'm sure there's other stuff but I been sampling it.....

* 26 perch today on a magic home made lure I've created. That's up from the normal 6 or so.....

* Pastels cane the ass off paints any day!!! Just need a frame and that's my Mummy's birthday pressie done.

* Latest batch of dark ale has the potential to be 9%. At the moment it's just over 7% and still blooping away quite nicely. :-)

* Your mama still hasn't moved her stuff out of my room. Can you hurry her along please???

On this settling down..... [05 Jan 2009|06:03pm]
Wow. Looking back over my old LJ entries, I have changed so much.....I don't know that it is a bad change though.

Yes, I admit, I used to have side splitting funny shit that I would blurt out, and I would love to carry on doing that. Trouble is, my amazing highs would have major lows to counter them, and maybe even severe dramas to egg them on in the first place.

I kinda like growing up. I'd better - I'm 30 in February!!!

Semi productive weekend [05 Jan 2009|05:54pm]
First time in what seems like ages I've had a productive one (been moping around slutted over the losing several thousand dollar thing).

Firstly, went out and tested the new rubber inflatable boat "Das Booty" at Opunake Lake - got no fish so went to the Kaupokonui River on the way home and got a leedle brownie.
Then decided to do something about our friend Brooke's birthday present - so did a pastel sketch of Waihi Beach (where her and her boy used to do naughty things - so a bit of history there!!!). This was then given to her that evening.....how's that for spewing out the artisticness!!!???
Then today (my weekends are Sunday Monday - sue me!!!) I did a shyteload more painting on the new cage, melted lead for fishing lures, distilled three batches of alcohol, and did another pastel sketch of Dawson Falls (same chick said she needed another one as paintings and things need to go in threes and I did her another one ages ago).

Yay for the economy..... [03 Dec 2008|07:03pm]
My superannuation scheme that I pulled the plug on finally gave me what dollars I had left.
Over the phone, they quoted about $1400, on paper a few days later, $1200, and in my bank a week later.....$600. The property market has plummeted that quickly. Lucky I didn't procrastinate I guess!!! So, that is a loss of $3900 total for me since I started up. That's more than I drink in a year - so you KNOW it's bad!!!

Oh well, I used it to pay off a loan of mine, so it means a few more bob in the back pocket.

Just finished a big ass holiday to the Waikato, Auckland, and Coromandel. It was TOO good. It is the first time ever I have been away and completely forgotten about work. I'm 30 next year and NEVER been away and forgotten all my responsibilities at home. That's sad man!!!

Oh - 7 trout for me, 1 for Sara, and multiple good sized snapper while we were away btw.....

Now - on to martini #2.....

The good, the bad, and the indifferent..... [16 Nov 2008|01:41pm]
I learnt a valuable lesson this week. FOLLOW THE NEWS!!! A year and a half ago I set up a superannuation scheme (well - two with the same company really). What I didn't realise is that for the past half a year the company in question has been gradually sinking. For christ's sake!!! I mean every other finance company is going under - you'd think I'd have the brains to check the status of this one!!! As a result I SHOULD be getting back $1200 from them this week. Sound good? Not when you consider the other $3500 or more I've paid that has disappeared into a black hole somewhere.....

In good news though, I had a severe bout of insomnia from about 4:00am onwards, so at 5 I decided to go do an early morning trout fish. What do I get??? A bloody 6.5lb kahawai on my little trout rod!!! As a result, we HAVE to have visitors for tea as it's too much for just me and Sara. Oh - for you non kiwis, a kahawai is a saltwater fish that fights like a bastard and should probably not be caught on light trout tackle.....

Made a fair bit of headway on the new lizard cage. The end of that blurb!!!

Oh - and I have a bebo page by the way - but dunno for how long. I've had all the normal "look at my norks on this webcam page" adds and things. BUT.....recently they have somehow been able to send messages SUPPOSEDLY from people who are already friends saying "come look at this youtube clip". That's fine and dandy except the latest one said "can I see you naked as well". Can you imagine a comment like that coming from someone you know (supposedly from them at least)??? I was shocked to think that someone I know could have been sent a similar thing from MY account!!! I emailed the bebo support people and said either sort it out or I'm gone. I'd hate to think my hunny's rellies think I want to see their rack!!!

Political Conspiracy Theory??? [09 Nov 2008|09:58pm]
I don't feel that Labour tried terribly hard to win this election. Isn't it funny that this occured when the world was turning to custard economically??? Did they plan to let National NEW! Labour Lite in, so they would get blamed for any crap that occurs (which was going to anyway), thus gauranteeing Labour are in power come next election???

Thoughts people???

Stuff and things [06 Nov 2008|06:16pm]
Wouldn't be surprised if there was a tornado in the district last night, or if one hits tonight. It's almost cool - I moved to NZ's own miniature "tornado alley"!!! Still haven't seen one though. Earlier in the year there were several twirling about on the same day, one down either end of our road even, but me and Sara were on a bus heading to Auckland so missed the fun!!!

Anyway, for a tornado in these parts:

Take one sudden cold snap, add lots and lots of strong wind, throw in some splashes of heavy hail, and leave to cook until evening.

I really wanna see one dammit!!!

My slippers smell!!! [03 Nov 2008|04:43pm]
Yep, they do. But anyway.....

Went to Midhurst today to see if the random crap store had an old window. Needed to grab it for a new lizard cage I'm making. I want to up the number of skinks I have, and need somewhere safe for my new baby forest geckoes to live - expecially since we are gonna hopefully be away for a week or so (depending on workplace politics) and have a mildly psychopathic cat that could easilly do damage to the current cages if he got bored.

Be cage #2 after this %#@*er here!!!

The two in that cage are rather large critters, and the new one is gonna sit on top.

Muahahahahahahahahhahahahajhrfajkdfhlakshdfkashdfkajs!!!

Yes, I is still here, and I is has been sitting here observing for a time. Why have I chosen now to pop up and say this? HOME MADE ABSYNTHE is why!!!

Anyway, living in Hawera, earning far from millions, depleting the local trout population, making sure there is still a market for coffee beans, and just generally doing the living thing.

How be all yous au?

fuck fuck fuckidy fuck!!! [28 Jun 2006|12:58pm]
Went to see the doctory thing about getting my cast off the other day. He insisted i get an xray done first. Did so, and the he shows me the results. No change at all from when it first happened. Still in a cast, still off work for two weeks as a result.

Would find out about this the day Sara goes back to New Plymouth wouldn't I!!! Now gonna go and stay down with her for a bit so I at least have her to keep me company and keep me occupied. I HATE being alone for ages.

I really want to work again. And I really want to be able to do stuff - hunt, fish, play guitar, hell - even being able to write would be nice!!!

Yes I'm still alive..... [13 Jun 2006|03:29pm]
.....all be it a close call!!!
Was recently in a motorbike accident down country and as a result I'm typing left handed and DAMN is it a mission!!! Broke my right arm so in a cast above the elbow, donged my head a bit so having a bit of trouble remembering the odd thing and make less sense than before with the odd story. That side of things seems to be improving though!!!
Have a new missus by the name of Sara. Real little sweetie. Trouble is she lives in New Plymouth (hence me having accidents down the line).
And to all those who are about to ask IT'S ONLY JUST BEEN OVER A MONTH SO NO ONE IS MOVING ANYWHERE DAMMIT!!! (been asked that a lot lately)

So yeah, anyway..... [22 Apr 2006|09:54am]
Been a day or twenty since I last posted, so best give you sad pricks your fix of the Dan.

Flatmate is in South America at moment.

I was meant to have a girl over for dinner on Thursday night last week and the place was a tip. Penny needed to do some venting, so I used that as an excuse to get her over to my place to help clean up!!! Damn I'm good!!! Then after all that the chicky babe couldn't show up. She's meant to be attempting again tonight but we'll see. And no, I won't bore you with details because every time I do it turns to crap and I look like a prize tool bag!!!

Been riding bike to work each day. All going well there.

It is raining. Homo!!!

Tequila is still great!!! My fuel of choice.

Have you ever noticed..... [05 Mar 2006|10:59am]
.....you can always tell management from plebs in offices by the quality of the shoes? Clothing wise you often can't tell the difference. Suits jackets, ties, collared shirts, well groomed hair.....but the shoes always give them away. Nice, possibly Italian leather and well polished; as opposed to chunky heavy soled, stitching coming away, scuffed crap. Girls - look at the shoes when some guy tries to pick you up in a club after he tells you what he does. The shoes don't lie.....

.....when I'm in a dress up Tokoroa style don't give a fuck mood, no one else looks like me? Even the westies.....

.....I am addicted to the chocolate brownie they sell at the place under my work?

.....I need to go wee wees?

I have deals starting to appear (nothing finalised yet, waiting for clients to sign papers and send em back), and did quite a biggie today!!! What's great is most of my calls have been females (I can be the hell charmer on the phone), or your working class males, who I have more of a raport with being from a bushman familly.
